A strong start - the borehole
The most important milestones from the very beginning until today
Autumn 2009
Start of drilling work for the doublet well in Laufzorn. The rule of thumb says that the temperature of the thermal water increases by three degrees Celsius for every 100 metres of depth. That means: the deeper it is, the hotter it gets.
June 2010
Discovery of the well. The production well, from which the hot water is brought up, reaches the water-bearing Malm at a depth of 3,755 metres. The reinjection well, which returns the cooled water into the ground at a distance of around 2 kilometers and a depth of 3,428 meters.
August 2010
Beginning construction of the district heating network
November 2012
Completion of the Laufzorn geothermal power plant

Completion of the main pipeline of the district heating network

Start of cooperation with Geothermie Unterhaching

Start of the ORC power plant
December 2016
Commissioning of combined heat and power plant for own electricity generation in Laufzorn
